From Artemis Watch

Effective Date: July 15, 2025

Applies to: All visitors and registered contributors to artemiswatch.wiki

This Privacy Policy describes how the Artemis Watch team (we, us, or our) collects, uses, and handles your information when you use our website, artemiswatch.wiki (the "Site").

1. Information We Collect

We collect information in several ways to operate and improve the Site.

a. Log Data

Like most websites, our servers and third-party security services (such as Cloudflare) automatically collect information that your browser sends whenever you visit our Site. This "Log Data" may include your Internet Protocol (IP) address, browser type and version, the pages you visit, and the time and date of your visit. We use this data for security monitoring, performance analysis, and to understand general visitor traffic patterns.

b. Cookies

This Site uses essential cookies to function correctly. Our software platform, MediaWiki, uses cookies to maintain login sessions for registered contributors. Our security provider, Cloudflare, may also place cookies to identify trusted traffic. You can instruct your browser to refuse all cookies, but please note that some portions of the Site, such as logging in, may not function without them.

c. Contribution Data

As a wiki, a core feature is the tracking of contributions. When you register as a contributor and make edits, your username is publicly associated with those edits and is visible in the page history. Currently, page history is only visible to other registered contributors. This policy may be updated if the visibility of contribution history changes in the future.

d. Information You Voluntarily Provide

We collect information that you voluntarily submit to the Site:

  • Anonymous Reports: If you submit information through our anonymous reporting form, we collect the content and files you provide. This process is designed not to collect your name or email address.
  • "Risk Scan" Queries: If you use the "Risk Scan" search feature, we record the search terms you enter (such as a name, ID number, or phone number) along with your associated Log Data. This information is used internally to improve our database and to identify potential new leads for investigation.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

  • To operate, maintain, and improve the Site.
  • To moderate and publish anonymous user submissions.
  • To respond to inquiries sent to our contact email addresses.
  • To analyze "Risk Scan" queries for potential investigative leads.
  • To monitor for security threats and protect the integrity of the Site.

3. Sharing and Disclosure

Your information is not sold or rented to third parties. We may disclose information under the following limited circumstances:

  • Legal Requirements: If required by a valid subpoena, court order, or other governmental request.
  • Aggregated Data: We may share aggregated and anonymized metrics publicly (e.g., the number of reports submitted from a certain region).

4. Data Retention

We retain different types of information for different periods:

  • Contribution Data: Your username and associated edits are considered part of the permanent public record of the wiki and are retained indefinitely.
  • Log Data: Server and security logs are retained for a limited period for analysis and then deleted.
  • "Risk Scan" Queries: Queries that do not lead to a valid investigation are deleted from our records after a short period.

5. Your Rights & Choices

If you have registered an account on the Site, you may have the right to access or correct the personal data associated with your account. For any inquiries regarding your data, please contact us at [email protected].

6. Security

We are committed to protecting your information. However, please be aware that no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your data, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

7. International Visitors

If you reside outside the United States, please note that your data may be transferred to—and processed in—the U.S., where our servers are hosted. Be sure to review your local data-protection laws before submitting sensitive information.

8. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
