The Guangzhou Construction Site Dog Killing was an act of animal cruelty that occurred on the morning of July 23, 2025, in Tianhe District, Guangzhou. The incident, in which a man bludgeoned an old guard dog at a construction site to death with a brick, was captured on surveillance video and subsequently reported by Chinese media outlets on social platforms like Weibo.

The Incident

The victim was a black dog that had been raised by workers at the construction site for seven to eight years and was known to be gentle and friendly with people.

On the morning of July 23, while the site workers were not present, a man began chasing the dog. According to the surveillance footage, the attack started at approximately 7:35 AM. The video shows the man grabbing the dog, holding it down, and repeatedly striking it with a brick until it stopped moving. After killing the dog, the man carried its body away from the scene. The ground and the steps at the company entrance were left covered in blood.[1]

Aftermath

A staff member at the site, identified as Mr. Chen, described the man's actions as exceptionally cruel. Following the incident, the dog's empty kennel and food bowl remained on the premises. After comprehensive consideration, the workers collectively chose not to file a report with the police.[2]
